Southwest Oncology at Mercy Regional Medical Center earned re-accreditation by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
The program provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology and oncology practices that meet nationally-recognized standards for cancer care.
The evaluation looks at standards and practices, including treatment planning, staff training, chemotherapy orders, drug preparation, patient consent and education, safe chemotherapy administration and monitoring of patient well-being.
