La Plata Open Space Conservancy, Durango’s local land trust, will host its Southwest Stewardship Series for a third consecutive year. This workshop series educates private landowners on land management topics so that they may better steward their land and protect the region’s rich natural resources. Soil Health. 9 a.m.– noon, April 13, 12629 U.S. 550. Attendees will learn the importance of soil health, how to assess it, and how to improve it with experts from the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Dryside Rancher Dale Horvath.
Living with Beavers, 5:30-7:30 p.m., April 20, Durango Public Library, 1900 E 3rd Ave. Learn about these unique creatures and how to integrate them into your rural property to improve drought and wildfire resilience, agricultural yield, and wildlife habitat with Nichole Fox of Give a Dam.
Noxious Weed Mitigation. June TBD, 1130 County Road 234. Learn about identification and management best practices for common nonnative species in the Durango area with La Plata County Weed Manager Ben Bain.
