Spend your Thursdays with Concert Hall @ The Park

Once again, you can celebrate the dog days of summer at Buckley Park in downtown Durango with the “Concert Hall @ The Park” series beginning June 15 and continuing every Thursday through July 27.

Concerts are from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Alpine Bank, the city of Durango and the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College have teamed up to bring these concerts to us free of charge. Pack your picnic, lawn chairs and bring the family to enjoy live music in Buckley Park, between 12th and 13th streets.

Here’s the schedule:

June 15: Run Boy Run. Existing comfortably in the tension between tradition and the musical frontier, Tucson five-piece Run Boy Run blends bluegrass, folk and the old-timey American vernacular with touches of classical and turn-of-the-century details. The band is brother and sister Matt Rolland (fiddle, guitar) and Grace Rolland (cello, vocals), sisters Bekah Sandoval Rolland (fiddle, vocals) and Jen Sandoval (mandolin, vocals) and bass player Jesse Allen. June 22: The Cannondolls. With a shared passion for beautiful melodies and deeply honest lyrics, Caitlin Cannon and Kate Willyard formed The Cannondolls, an Americana music project bridging a quirky yet emotionally-rich songwriting style with modern influences. The duo added fiddle player Alissa Wolf in 2015 and often features guest musicians for special shows/venues. June 29: Hi*Beams. One of Colorado’s most popular and enduring acts, the Hi*Beams have celebrated 17 years together. Rootsy but not revivalist, the Hi*Beams’ rollicking stage act features rocked-up Texas honky tonk and western swing, equal parts original and classic.July 6: Garrett Lebeau. Lebeau was born and raised on the Wind River Indian Reservation near Lander, Wyoming, and is an enrolled member of the Shoshone tribe. July 13: Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon. Collins and some of the original artists of Boulder Canyon originally met in Aspen at the largest annual celebration of John Denver’s life and music. Since that first initial meeting, Collins and Boulder Canyon have gone on to tour from coast to coast to pay tribute to the music of John Denver. July 20: Southwest Civic Winds Jazz. In early spring 2012, Mark Walters and Ruth Katzin decided to form a concert band. And so, the Southwest Civic Winds began to take shape. Working together, they contacted people in their community and reached out to other communities in the Four Corners. The result of that effort was a 57-member band composed of brass, woodwind and percussion players.
