Pac-12 fines, reprimands CU head coach MacIntyre

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 conference fined and reprimanded Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre $10,000 for conduct toward the officials after the Buffaloes’ loss to Oregon State on Saturday.

MacIntyre was yelling at the officials as he chased them off the field after the loss. Security officials turned him away.

Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott called MacIntyre’s actions “completely unacceptable.” The fine will go toward the Pac-12 student-athlete scholarship fund.

The Buffaloes lost to the Beavers 36-31. Afterward, Macintyre would not comment on the officiating.

AP source: Faried, Nuggets agree to 4 years, $50M

DENVER – A person familiar with the negotiations said Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried agreed to a four-year, $50-million contract extension.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday night on condition of anonymity because the team has yet to announce the deal.

Denver had until Oct. 31 to negotiate a new contract for Faried or he would have become a restricted free agent next summer.

The high-flying Faried, who helped lead the United States to a gold medal at this summer’s world championships, averaged 13.7 points and 8.6 rebounds last season.

Prater follows Freese and Henery as Lions’ kicker

DETROIT – The Detroit Lions signed Matt Prater to a one-year deal in their latest effort to fix their early kicking woes.

The Denver Broncos cut ties with Prater earlier this month, when the 30-year-old kicker was about to come off a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Prater made 25-of-26 field goals last season, including a record-setting 64-yarder against Tennessee. The Lions are desperate for kicking help after rookie Nate Freese went 3-of-7 on field goals and Alex Henery went 1-of-5.

Henery missed three field goals in Sunday’s 17-14 loss to Buffalo, including a 50-yarder that would have put Detroit ahead in the final minute.
