LEXINGTON, Ohio – Simon Pagenaud took advantage of Conor Daly’s late fuel stop to win the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Course on Sunday for his fourth victory of the season and the eighth of his career.

The Frenchman started from the pole, showing no signs of a back injury sustained in practice Friday.

Daly led for 21 laps in search of his first victory after qualifying in the last spot, but he had to pit with six of the 90 laps left, and never recovered.

Avalanche lock up Barrie, secure blue line

The Colorado Avalanche and defenseman Tyson Barrie avoided a contract arbitration ruling by signing a four-year, $22 million contract on Sunday.

The deal was reached two days after both sides made their cases at an arbitration hearing but before the arbitrator issued a ruling.

The 25-year-old Barrie has led Avalanche defensemen in points in each of the past two seasons, including a career-high-matching 13 goals and 36 assists for 49 points in 78 games last season.

Push for skateboarding hits road block

A lawsuit accuses the group trying to bring skateboarding into the 2020 Olympics of skirting anti-doping rules and giving favors to an IOC member that led to the ouster of a rival group from the negotiating table.

Skateboarding is one of five sports the International Olympic Committee will vote on Wednesday for possible inclusion in the Tokyo Games, but there’s friction between groups that seek to run the sport.

A large portion of the lawsuit, filed last week in California, concerns anti-doping – an issue that is in the headlines heading into the Rio Games.

Palestinians file complaint over Israeli restrictions

JERUSALEM – The head of the Palestinian soccer federation has submitted a complaint to the international soccer governing body, FIFA, after Israel prevented seven soccer players and staff from traveling from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank.

Jibril Rajoub says the Shabab Khan Younis players were attempting to attend the final Palestine Cup match in Hebron. The game, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed.

Israel’s Shin Bet security service said the team members were barred due to “severe negative security background.” Israel has maintained a blockade on Gaza since the militant Islamic group Hamas took over in 2007.

In 2015, Rajoub asked FIFA to suspend the Israeli soccer association because of restrictions on Palestinian players.

Israel has asked FIFA to condemn Rajoub’s hailing of Palestinians who attack Israelis as courageous heroes.
