NEWTON, Iowa – Josef Newgarden cruised to victory in the IndyCar race at Iowa Speedway on Sunday, setting a series record by leading 282 of 300 laps.
It’s the first win of the season for Newgarden, who finished second in Iowa in 2014 and 2015 and just missed winning the pole this weekend.
Newgarden, who broke his right clavicle and hand in a crash at Texas last month, established a huge lead in the opening laps and maintained it through three cautions.
Team Penske’s Will Power was second, followed by Scott Dixon, Simon Pagenaud and Mikhail Aleshin.
SILVERSTONE, England – Defending Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton reeled off his fourth win in five races Sunday to storm to victory in the British Grand Prix.
The 31-year-old Englishman came home 6.9 seconds clear of his German teammate Nico Rosberg. Dutch teenager Max Verstappen was third ahead of his Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo of Australia.
Hamilton’s victory completes a hat trick of consecutive home wins at the British Grand Prix for the Mercedes driver, and is his fourth win on home soil and the 46th of his career.
The win cut Rosberg’s lead in the world championship to four points, subject to an investigation into the German’s comments during a radio dialogue with his pit crew as he tried to resolve a gearbox problem late in the race.

INVERNESS, Scotland – Alex Noren held off his pursuers in the final round Sunday to win the Scottish Open by one shot for his fifth victory on the European Tour.
The Swede shot 2-under 70 to finish on 14-under 274, with playing partner Tyrrell Hatton (69) the runner-up at Castle Stuart. Nicolas Colsaerts (66), Danny Lee (69) and Matteo Manassero (70) were two shots back.
Hatton, Colsaerts, Manassero and Richie Ramsay took the final four qualification places for next week’s British Open at Royal Troon.
Noren began the day with a two-shot lead, which disappeared after a bogey at No. 8 that left him tied with Lee. The 33-year-old Noren birdied Nos. 12 and 15 to go two shots in front again, and a par at the par-5 last was enough to win.
ENDICOTT, N.Y. – Paul Goydos shot a bogey-free 69 on Sunday to win the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.
A birdie at the 17th hole gave Goydos a two-shot victory over Wes Short Jr. (69) as he finished at 14-under-par 202 for his third victory on the Champions Tour.
Goydos, runner-up at En-Joie Golf Club last year to Jeff Maggert when he faltered late, began play tied for the lead with Riegger. Goydos was the steadiest of the leaders, carding eight pars and making birdie at the par-4 sixth hole. A birdie at No. 10 dropped him to 13 under, three shots ahead of Riegger, Short, and Lancaster.
Olympics
TROON, Scotland – Rickie Fowler says on Twitter that he’s going to the Olympics, and Patrick Reed said he would be joining him in Rio.
All that’s left to fill out the four-man American team is Jordan Spieth.
Spieth says he has not yet decided whether to play, though a decision is due some time Monday.
Fowler played at St. Andrews upon his arrival in Scotland. He tweeted Sunday evening, “Looking forward to wearing some red white and blue in Rio.”
Reed was first alternate for the Americans when Dustin Johnson withdrew. After playing the Scottish Open on Sunday, he said he was “all in.”
If Spieth chooses not to play, the fourth American would be Matt Kuchar, who is No. 15 in the world at the Olympic deadline.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Simone Biles can officially book that plane ticket for Brazil.
The three-time world gymnastics champion secured her spot on the 2016 U.S. Olympic team with a near flawless tour of the SAP Center on Sunday night, earning an automatic berth on the five-woman team by strolling to the all-around title.
Biles, who hasn’t lost in more than three years, posted a two-day total of 123.250. Laurie Hernandez was second and Aly Raisman third.
Defending Olympic champion Gabby Douglas improved after a shaky performance on Friday but remained in seventh position.
U.S. national team coordinator Martha Karolyi will lead a selection committee to fill in the other four spots behind Biles. The Americans are heavy favorites to back up the team gold they won in London four years ago.
