Greased lightning: electric car wins annual Hill Climb
COLORADO SPRINGS – Rhys Millen took an electric car to an overall title at The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on Sunday.
The New Zealander sped to the fastest times throughout the week.
Mechanical issues among the front-runners and slick conditions led to slower times.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, he still beat runner-up Nobuhiro Tajima, who was also driving an electric car, by more than 25 seconds.
A pall hung over the race after Thursday’s accident that killed motorcycle driver Carl Sorensen in a practice run.

The Decision: Part 3 could be on Cleveland’s horizon
A person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press that LeBron James will not exercise a $21.6 million option on his contract, making him a free agent July 1.
The decision was widely expected, but James has no plans to leave Cleveland again. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because neither the Cavaliers nor James were publicly discussing the process.
James made a celebrated return to Cleveland last season, and he decided to sign a two-year contract with a player option for next season. The decision allows James to sign a new max contract that will pay him more than $22 million next season.
James led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals, where they lost to Golden State in six games.

FIFA election monitor urges Blatter to commit to going
ZURICH – FIFA election monitor Domenico Scala urged Sepp Blatter to state clearly he is leaving as president.
Scala called in a statement for “all concerned – including Mr. Blatter” to endorse “unequivocally the announced changing of the guard at the top of FIFA.”
Blatter announced his planned exit on June 2 amid a crisis provoked by American and Swiss federal investigations of corruption.
Then, the newly re-elected FIFA leader said he would not be a candidate in a fresh ballot to be held between December and March.
However, Blatter has since fuelled speculation he wants to continue at world football’s governing body by saying he technically did not resign.
Scala, chairman of FIFA’s independent audit and compliance committee, says Sunday “the times of flirting with the power are definitely gone.”
