NASCAR fan dies on infield during Sprint Cup race
FORT WORTH, Texas A medical examiner said a man who died in the infield during a NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway shot himself in the head.
The Tarrant County medical examiners office Sunday said the death of 42-year-old Kirk Franklin of Saginaw was a suicide.
Fort Worth police said a man who was camping in the infield died of a self-inflicted injury after getting into an argument with other campers. It happened late in the Sprint Cup race.
Police spokeswoman Cpl. Tracey Knight said alcohol may have been a factor. Knight said several people witnessed the incident, but nobody was in danger.
Track spokesman Mike Zizzo said the death occurred in or around a pickup truck in part of the infield near the middle of the backstretch.
Alonso drives Ferrari to its first F1 victory this year
SHANGHAI Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso won the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday, claiming his and the teams first win since last years race in Germany.
Alonso took the lead for good with 13 laps to go and won by 10 seconds over Kimi Raikkonen, with pole sitter Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes finishing third, just two tenths of a second ahead of Red Bulls Sebastian Vettel.
Vettel retains the championship lead, now just three points ahead of Lotus Raikkonen, with Alonso moving to third and Hamilton fourth.

Trey Burke makes it official: Point guard leaves for NBA
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Trey Burke is leaving Michigan early for the NBA draft.
The Associated Press national player of the year announced his decision Sunday. The move came as no surprise. Burke considered going pro a year ago but decided to come back for his sophomore season. He led Michigan to the NCAA title game, where the Wolverines lost to Louisville.The 6-foot point guard averaged 18.6 points and 6.7 assists per game in 2012-13, and he scored 24 points in the championship game.
Loyola of Chicago to replace Creighton in the MVC?
CHICAGO A person familiar with the situation said Loyola of Chicago has accepted an invitation to the Missouri Valley Conference and is leaving the Horizon League.
The person, speaking Sunday on the condition of anonymity because the move has not been announced, said some details still were being finalized. A formal announcement is expected this week, with the move taking effect July 1. Loyola would replace Creighton, which jumped to the new Big East.

Kreuziger upsets the favorites to win Amstel Gold classic
VALKENBURG, Netherlands Roman Kreuziger of the Czech Republic attacked early and held off the favorites Sunday to win the Amstel Gold Race around the hills of the southern Netherlands for his first classic victory.Kreuziger finished the 155-mile race in 6 hours, 35 minutes, 21 seconds.

Isner aces Almagro on clay; Robredo wins romantic 11th
HOUSTON John Isner of the United States beat Argentinas Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 7-5 in the final of the U.S. Mens Clay Court Championship on Sunday.
Isner won his first tournament of the year and the sixth of his career. He had seven aces in the match, giving him a record 64 for the tournament. Almagro leads the ATP Tour with 266 aces.
