Ex-Minnesota AD didn’t disclose discrimination
MINNEAPOLIS – Former University of Minnesota athletic director Norwood Teague failed to disclose that he was facing a gender discrimination complaint at the time he was recruited and hired, according to the school.
The university had hired Parker Executive Search in 2012 to find an athletic director and check the backgrounds of leading candidates. Parker asked candidates to disclose any potential issues of controversy or concern, and Teague signed a statement saying no such issues existed.
The search failed to reveal that the women’s basketball coach at Virginia Commonwealth University, Beth Cunningham, filed a complaint against Teague when he was athletic director there. VCU settled the complaint for $125,000.

Tests will determine extent of McCoy’s hamstring injury
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy hurt his left hamstring during a joint practice with Cleveland and is having tests to determine the extent of the injury.
Head coach Rex Ryan says trainers informed him the hamstring is intact and has not been pulled off the bone, which he described as “a real positive.”
McCoy pulled up short and started limping during 7-on-7 drills about an hour into Tuesday night’s practice. He walked to the sideline holding the back of his left leg, and then sat on the turf, where he was attended to by numerous trainers. He required help getting up, and then slowly made his way to the locker room.

Undersized Briere ends his long and varied career
PHILADELPHIA – Danny Briere, the undersized center who went on to become an NHL All-Star and keyed the Philadelphia Flyers’ run to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals, retired.
Briere ended a 17-year career Monday that saw him play for the Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Flyers, Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche.
Briere spent the bulk of his career with the Sabres and Flyers and earned All-Star nods playing for both franchises.
Generously listed at 5-foot-9, Briere was MVP of the 2006 All-Star game, the same year he helped lead the Sabres to the Eastern Conference finals.
Briere shined in 2010 when he set a Flyers record with 30 points (12 goals) in 23 playoff games. Four of his goals were game-winners, and he brought the Flyers all the way to Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
