COLORADO SPRINGS – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Presidents’ Council unanimously approved the addition of Dixie State University, a premier NCAA Division II institution located in St. George, Utah, as the conference’s 16th member.
The Trailblazers, who joined the RMAC as an associate member in football for the 2016 season, will become a full member starting in the 2018-19 academic year.
Founded in 1911, Dixie State serves approximately 9,000 students with a 100-percent acceptance rate, and is home to six colleges with more than 150 academic programs.

Sardinia for Fabio Aru. Sicily for Vincenzo Nibali.
The 100th edition of the Giro d’Italia next year will pay homage to the country’s two top riders with a start that will include stages on both of Italy’s largest islands.
Revealed Tuesday in Milan, the May 5-28 race will start with three stages in Sardinia to honor Aru, followed by two legs in Sicily for Nibali.
Aru last year became the first Sardinian to wear the Giro leader’s pink jersey, when he finished second to Alberto Contador, while Nibali, a Sicilian, won in 2013 and 2016.
Aru and Nibali were teammates at Astana the past four years, but Nibali recently left to lead the new Bahrain-Merida team, setting up a duel.
Next year’s race will also include many of the legendary climbs from the Giro’s history, including a finish at Oropa in the northwest region of Piedmont, where Marco Pantani won in 1999, and two ascents in a single stage of the high-altitude Stelvio Pass, near the Swiss border.

DENVER – Police are investigating a burglary at the home of Denver Broncos outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware that Ware reported when he returned home from Monday night’s football game.Denver police spokesman Doug Schepman said the break-in was reported early Tuesday. Police are looking for three men who stole undisclosed valuables Monday night, during the Broncos’ game against the Houston Texans. Reportedly among the items stolen were Ware’s Super Bowl 50 ring, estimated to be worth $32,000.
DENVER – Authorities said a fan died after falling 60 feet at the Denver Broncos’ stadium after a game Monday night.Stadium Management Co., which operates Sports Authority Field at Mile High, said the fan fell over a railing.
The medical examiner’s office said Tuesday the man was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. He was identified as 36-year-old Jason Coy.
Denver police say he was sitting on a railing when he fell. Witnesses and emergency responders immediately tried to help.
The incident occurred near the north end of the stadium following the Broncos’ game against the Houston Texans.
ENGLEWOOD – The Denver Broncos traded a 2017 fifth-round pick to the rival New England Patriots in exchange for tight end A.J. Derby.To make room, they released veteran safety Shiloh Keo for the second time this season.
Derby was a sixth-round draft pick out of Arkansas last year and played in four games for the Patriots this season after spending his rookie season on IR.
Playing behind Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett, Derby played just 36 snaps. But his preseason production – 15 receptions for 189 yards, a TD – is roughly what the Broncos’ tight ends have managed this season. Virgil Green, John Phillips and Jeff Heuerman have a combined 17 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown.
