Fury accuses Klitschko camp of trying to drug him

Tyson Fury has accused Wladimir Klitschko’s camp of being “cheats” and says he refused to accept any water after beating the Ukrainian in Saturday’s world heavyweight title fight for fear of being drugged.

Fury, who outpointed Klitschko to take the WBA, IBF and WBO belts in Duesseldorf on Saturday, says he was given the wrong gloves for the fight, was put down for the wrong weight at the weigh-in, and almost called off the bout because there was too much foam under the canvas in the ring.

There is a rematch clause in the contract between Fury and Klitschko.

5-7 bowl teams to be selected by academic rating

Teams with 5-7 records will become eligible for at least two bowl bids, and as many as five, based on their Academic Progress Rates.

The NCAA Division I council approved a recommendation made by the football oversight committee on Monday to fill the record 40 bowls with five-win teams because not enough will meet the standard bowl-eligibility requirements.

There are 75 teams with at least six victories and a .500 record going into the final weekend of the regular season. Only three more can get to six wins.

Based on 2013-14, Nebraska has the best APR among 5-7 teams at 985.

Kansas State can become bowl eligible Saturday at West Virginia, but with a 976 APR, the Wildcats should get in.

Fantasy sports companies weigh leaving U.S. market

Daily fantasy sports companies are taking different approaches when it comes to deciding what states they’ll operate in as their industry faces increased scrutiny.

Many, including market leaders DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo, continue to offer their online contests in most states while steering clear of a handful where there are consensus local regulations effectively banning the games.

CBS Sports has quietly stopped offering daily fantasy games.

Jabari Parker had 16 points and Michael Carter-Williams added 12 points and nine assists for Milwaukee.

Danilo Gallinari scored 13 points and Kenneth Faried added 11 for Denver, which managed just 30 points in the second half after scoring only five in the third quarter of its previous game, a 92-81 loss at Dallas on Saturday.

It was the most points allowed off turnovers this season by the Nuggets.

Avalanche slide continues with loss to Islanders

NEW YORK – Cal Clutterbuck broke a tie 1:52 into the third period and the New York Islanders beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 on Monday night.

Kyle Okposo, Mikhail Grabovski, Casey Cizikas and Ryan Strome also scored and the Islanders won for the third time in four games. Thomas Greiss stopped 25 shots.

Jarome Iginla, Nick Holden and former Islander Blake Comeau each scored for Colorado, but the Avs fell for the fifth time in their last seven games.

Off a faceoff win, Clutterbuck redirected Thomas Hickey’s point shot past goalie Semyon Varlamov’s glove.

With Varlamov at the bench, Holden cut the Islanders’ lead to 4-3 with 3:34 left, but Strome scored an empty-net goal with 47.9 seconds left.
