WACO, Texas – Three more women filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Baylor University, claiming the school did nothing to help them after they reported being sexually assaulted.
The Baptist school in Waco, Texas came under intense criticism for mishandling allegations of sexual assault over several years, including cases involving football players. University president and chancellor Ken Starr was demoted and head football coach Art Briles was fired.
The women, all listed as “Jane Doe,” say they were attacked on or near campus in 2004, 2013 and 2014. None of the alleged assailants are identified, but the woman in the 2014 case alleges the attacker was a football player.
Baylor officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
NBA
CLEVELAND – Golden State center Andrew Bogut needs six to eight weeks to recover from a left knee injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the NBA Finals.
The Warriors are calling it an “impaction injury” that resulted in serious bone bruises. The team says Bogut won’t need surgery.
Bogut was hurt Sunday night about 90 seconds into the third quarter when he blocked a shot by Cleveland’s J.R. Smith, then landed awkwardly.
It’s a major blow to Golden State’s defensive scheme. Bogut blocked five shots in Game 2 of the finals.
CLEVELAND – Craig Sager is going to work his first NBA Finals game.
The longtime sideline reporter has been added to ESPN’s broadcast team for Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. Sager, who has worked for Turner Sports for 34 years, will share sideline reporting duties with Doris Burke on ABC’s broadcast.
Sager, who has long been one of the league’s most revered personalities, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2014. He says the invitation to join the broadcast “is a great honor.”
In a video released Wednesday by ESPN announcing the move, Burke told Sager: “Welcome to our team. It’s our honor.”
