Site for 2016 and 2017 Super Bowls decided today
BOSTON – Where the Super Bowl will celebrate a half-century of existence will be decided this week by NFL owners.
They have two choices for the 50th anniversary game in 2016: the San Francisco Bay Area and South Florida.
The 49ers’ new stadium is being built and is scheduled to open for the 2014 season. With the NFL showing a penchant for bringing is championship game to new venues – Dallas and Indianapolis very recently, New Jersey next February – Santa Clara would appear to have a strong chance. Only once has the Bay Area staged a Super Bowl, in 1985 at Stanford Stadium.
Not so awesome for the Miami area was a defeat in the state Legislature earlier this month that could severely damage its hopes of being chosen as the 2016 host. Or, for that matter, for South Florida to beat Houston for the 2017 game should it lose to San Francisco for the 50th edition. Both sites will be decided Tuesday.
Johnson in custody after a probation violation
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson has been arrested on charges that he violated probation stemming from an altercation with his now ex-wife, TV reality star Evelyn Lozada.
A Broward County judge ordered Johnson jailed Monday until he posts a $1,000 bond. Another hearing was set for June 3. An arrest warrant was issued earlier this month when Johnson failed to meet his probation officer.
The six-time Pro Bowl player formerly known as Chad Ochocinco is serving a year of probation after Lozada said he head-butted her during an argument last August. She quickly filed for divorce. They had been married only since July 4.
Johnson was released by the Miami Dolphins after the incident. He also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots.

Orlando hoping to reclaim some draft lottery Magic
NEW YORK – Pat Williams is pretty good at being lucky, and he’s got a hunch.
“I got a funny feeling that this could be another Magic year, here. For some reason, I’ve just got the feel,” Williams said.
Orlando sure could use it.
Following a difficult first season after trading Dwight Howard, the Magic are hoping Williams can bring them more lottery luck.
Armed with the best odds and their three-time winner back on stage, the Magic will try to jump-start the rebuilding process tonight by landing the rights to the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft.
Williams has won four times, including victories in 1992, 1993 and 2004 with the Magic. They used the most recent one to draft Howard, and no team since has entered with the best odds and won the lottery.
The Magic were back in the lottery the next two years but were busy playing in the postseason every spring since until this one, when they finished an NBA-worst 20-62 after sending Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers last August in a four-team deal.
That gives them a 25 percent chance at winning the rights to choose first in a draft that appears uncertain. Kentucky freshman Nerlens Noel is considered the top choice, though he could miss the first two months of the season while recovering from a torn ACL.
