Spring children’s programs begin Tuesday at Pine River Library

Pine River Library’s new spring programming schedule for kids begins Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Gamer Club will still be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Mondays, with the first program running Jan. 13. Groove and Groove, the library’s program for the youngest children that includes music, finger-plays, games and more, will stay at the 10:30-11:30 a.m. spot Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Crazy Eights Math club is also back from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays for kindergarten through second grade. Alphabet Art will continue from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays for toddlers and pre-schoolers to meet their ABCs in a playful, process art class perfect for early learners. After School Awesome is also back, with stories, history, art, science, outdoor and life skills activities for kindergarten through fifth graders from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Fridays.

One new monthly program series will be added this semester. Thanks to funding from The Ballantine Family Fund to support kindergarten readiness, The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County is partnering with Pine River Library to provide workshops for parent/informal caregivers and their preschool age children prior to entering kindergarten. The six Play & Learn Workshops, held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every fourth Wednesday of the month, will focus on key categories of kindergarten readiness and share developmentally appropriate activities that will support growth in early literacy, math, motor and social emotional skills. The focus will be on children who are not currently enrolled in preschool to ensure they receive similar types of kindergarten readiness support.

On holidays or other days where the library is closed, programs will be canceled. For a complete and updated list of children’s and teen programming, visit www.prlibrary.org.
