Struggling with mounting health care costs? Want your elected representatives to work to reduce your costs and increase your access to health care?
Colorado’s House of Representatives has been doing its job. Now, we need to flip the state Senate to Democratic majority. Why?
Bills which become law in Colorado must pass both the House and Senate before being signed by the governor. Many bills pass Colorado’s House (currently majority Democratic) only to die in Republican Senate kill committees without being voted on.
These great 2018 state House bills relating to health care were killed:
HB 18-1205 Financial Relief Defray Individual Health Plan CostsHB 18-1260 Prescription Drug Price TransparencyHB 18-1207 Hospital Financial Transparency MeasuresHB 18-1001 FAMLI Family Medical Leave Insurance ProgramHB 18-1009 Diabetes Drug Pricing Transparency Act HB 18-1384 Study Health Care Coverage OptionsSome state Senate bills also died in committees:
SB 18-080 Wholesale Canadian Drug Importation ProgramSB 18-152 Prohibit Price Gouging On Prescription DrugsThese were great bills that would’ve benefited working Coloradans – why were they killed? What is it about defraying health plan costs that Republican senators do not like?
Why is cost transparency – of hospital charges and drugs – a bad thing? Who benefits from not importing less costly Canadian drugs? Why do Republicans want to protect the profits of Big Pharma, insurance and hospital conglomerates, while ignoring the rest of us who must choose between rent and treating our child’s illness?
Let’s flip the state Senate! Vote Guinn Unger – he’ll lead this fight!
