State’s health care needs new direction

In response to the story headline “Single-payer backers go for ballot measure in Colorado” (Herald, Oct. 20):

Health care costs in Colorado continue to rise. This year, we will spend almost $10,000 per person for our health care. We need a system that is less expensive – and will provide coverage for every Coloradan.

In 2016, ColoradoCare will be on the Colorado ballot. ColoradoCare is a health care initiative that will cover every Coloradoan, save $6.2 billion each year – including adding $2 billion each year into the fund’s reserves – and will put the control of our health care into the hands of us here in Colorado rather than depending on the federal government.

ColoradoCare, if approved by the voters, will create a statewide, publicly financed, universal health care system for the first time in U.S. history. Once again, Colorado steps out in front to lead the way.
