As LPEA moves through one of the most consequential changes in its history, hiring Chris Hansen as CEO was a strategic decision to protect our cooperative’s long-term future. His steady leadership is one reason LPEA is moving forward this year with no rate increase, as electric rates rise across the country.
Chris brings a strong work ethic and deep technical and policy experience to the job. More importantly, he understands the moment LPEA is in. His experience working across jurisdictions on complex energy issues is directly relevant as we build new power-supply relationships and position LPEA for greater local control.
More than a year into the role, Chris understands how this organization works and what his leadership team needs to succeed. He has kept operations steady, decisions coordinated and accountability clear while building his team to continue the outstanding work already underway.
In a member-owned cooperative, leadership is built on connection, transparency and trust. Keeping rates low and the lights on now that we’re no longer shackled to Tri-State requires new skills, capabilities and resources.
Chris Hansen was selected unanimously by the board to lead LPEA through this next chapter. During times of change, some people see fear; I see opportunity and am optimistic about LPEA’s continued success under his leadership.
