Riverfront concerts? Yes! I hope the Durango/La Plata County community embraces the arts and sciences “STEAM Park” project (Herald, March 26).
As a relative newcomer to the area, it has always struck me that the city has not better incorporated the downtown area with the beautiful river that runs through it. STEAM (Science, Theatre, Education, Arts & Music) would bring together all these arts in a scenic location and give Durango yet another feature to add to its roster of great things to see and do.
It will be a tremendous boon for residents to have a state-of-the-art cultural center to go to for art, theater, music, education and science. And it no doubt will bring in additional tourist dollars when visitors can extend their stay for more activities and events.
Kudos to all the members of the STEAM committee who envision this worthy project. You have my support.
