Steamboat Springs hosts annual Weather Summit

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – Meteorologists from across the country are flocking to a small Colorado city for a weeklong conference.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports the Steamboat Ski Area is the site this week for the 29th annual Weather Summit.

A satellite truck is brought in for the week, allowing meteorologists to do live broadcasts with the ski area in the background. They also will film segments to be aired at a later date.

Ski area spokeswoman Nicole Miller says building relationships with the meteorologists is important for several reasons, including grabbing potential Steamboat visitors from the meteorologists’ respective cities.

There will be a lineup of speakers at this year’s Weather Summit, including Bob Perciasepe, former deputy administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency. Perciasepe will discuss President Donald Trump’s impact on EPA policy.
