Steamworks Brewing Co. has once again brought home national recognition, earning a Gold Medal for its Backside Stout at the Great American Beer Festival on Oct. 10. The Backside Stout competed among 32 entries in its category.
Now in its 39th year, the GABF remains the largest commercial beer competition in the world, with 250 judges evaluating 8,315 entries from 1,555 breweries across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
Named after the runs off Chair 8 at Purgatory Resort, the Backside Stout has a proud competition history, earning gold in 2010, bronze in 2014 and silver in 2016. In its 29-year history, Steamworks has earned 19 GABF medals – including 9 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze. Steamworks has also collected five World Beer Cup medals over that same period.
