Still have free speech, for good and ill

What should be a problem solver is no more than a problem maker in all aspects of society. Take politics. Everyone must have slept at a Holiday Inn Express since there are so many subject-matter experts giving apocalyptic predictions if we don’t think like them. Very few Herald letters cite evidence, but attempt to strong-arm others in believing their cause as gospel. Just sickening. These “If worms had machine guns, birds wouldn’t eat” testimonies makes me shake my head in disgust.

What’s sad is people on both sides jump on an ideology and run with it like it’s the second coming. I was brought up to look at the facts on both sides and determine the best choice. We’ve lost that. Too many people are quick to the bit and only lay down their electronic weapons when something traumatic happens such as 9/11. Unfortunately, it never lasts long.

To the upcoming elections, I know how I’ll vote, and have known for quite some time. I predict others have done the same. I would hope each took the time to weed down to the facts and not just rely on repetitive lies told over and over masquerading as facts.

My predictions are these. The sun will continue to rise and set and politicians, good and bad, will continue to be elected. I’m just happy to have the opportunity to speak my mind and not worry about being whisked away in the middle of the night.
