More on the lake for no one: I was so excited when a very well-done Recreation Proposal surfaced for public comment. I even encouraged my relatives and neighbors to comment.
Later, the control group indicated that only 300 comments were received to evaluate. With a Durango population of over 17,000 and county population over 54,000, this suggests that the local communities don’t give a hoot.
Announcements were made that surveying was to begin soon on the entrance design. Shortly thereafter, a truck appeared and it and could have been the start. Although I don’t drive by there every day, but most, the vehicle and activity was absent with no visible progress or acknowledgment of completion. I shouldn’t be surprised!
I told my family years ago I hope I can put my feet in the lake soon. I am still waiting.
Therefore, law enforcement personnel protecting the lake, if you see a slightly bent 85-year-old man slowly sneaking through the trees, arrest him. It would satisfy my dream and I would love it!
