Stillwater Music, a nonprofit organization that offers ensemble, private and inclusive lesson and performance opportunities to musicians of all ages and experience levels, has hired a new program director. Jana Leslie will manage the marketing, communications and development of the organization’s programs, including youth and adult vocal and instrumental ensembles, inclusive music/dance programs and the private lesson program.
Prior to moving to Durango with her family, Leslie was a practicing attorney in Maryland, a professional musician for churches in the Washington, D.C., area, and most recently, chief of staff, communications director and worship director at a large church, overseeing marketing, communications, systems implementation, community relations and extensive musical aspects of all church services.
Leslie replaces Bailey Barnes-Fagg, who wanted to concentrate fully on teaching voice at Stillwater and performing professionally. Barnes-Fagg built and expanded many of Stillwater’s programs, including the Spark inclusive music and dance program in several Durango schools.
