Get ready for another round of snow.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory, set to take effect 9 p.m. Thursday and last until noon Friday.
During this time, in lower elevations that include the towns of Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio and Pagosa Springs, the NWS is calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow. Wind gusts could reach as high as 35 mph.
Certain areas may receive higher amounts of snowfall, the NWS said.
Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions and limited visibility, which could impact morning commutes Friday.
In the high country, in areas around Silverton, Hesperus, Ouray, Telluride, Rico and Lake City, the winter weather advisory will take effect at 6 p.m. Thursday and last until 6 p.m. Friday.
During this time, the NWS is calling for 6 to 12 inches of snow, with some areas receiving higher amounts. Wind gusts could reach 45 mph.
Road conditions could be affected over Molas, Red Mountain and Lizard Head passes.
An avalanche watch was issued to begin Thursday evening and continue through Friday. If the storm comes into the region as expected, avalanche danger will be classified as “high.”
Backcountry travel is not recommended during this time.
In Durango, weather should clear by Friday night. Saturday and Sunday are forecast to have daytime highs in the upper 30s to low 40s, and remain mostly sunny.
