The Mountain States Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association will host a workshop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Avenue.
This half-day conference will provide professional development hours based on classroom contact time. Lunch will be held from noon to 1 p.m.
Presentations will include:
Stormwater and water quality – presented by Brendan Cusick, Southern Ute Indian Tribe.Protecting highway infrastructure from sediment runoff from large-scale fires including lessons from the 416 Fire – presented by Danielle Wilkinson, Colorado Department of Transportation.Matching restoration efforts with long-term goals, vegetation management and weed control – presented by Levi Mead, Horizon Environmental Services.Improvement of poor soils using organic soil amendments and fertilizers – presented by a national representative from Rocky Mountain Bio Products.The workshop is free for IECA members and $20 for non-members.
