Audrey McManus, a Durango native, will compete as a division finalist in the MTNA West Central Division Junior String Competition.
McManus earned this opportunity after winning the Colorado State Junior String Competition.
A freshman at Durango High School, McManus has been studying violin for 10 years and is currently a student of Brandon Christensen. During summers, she has attended Kinhaven Music School and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, where she studied with Shannon Thomas.
Locally, she has performed in the San Juan Youth Symphony, San Juan Symphony Side-by-Side concerts and Durango Bach Festival student concerts. Previously, she studied with Tennille Taylor of Farmington.
The winner of the division competition will compete in the national finals, which will be a video round this year. National finalists will be announced in mid-January.
