Students’ worth not measured by tests

Elise Tidwell’s op-ed (Herald, June 15) was well-stated. The emphasis by school systems on testing and test scores to judge a student’s worth is ludicrous and short-sighted. A person’s value to society should be based on the lives each of us positively impact and the good works that we accomplish, not how well we take tests. Thanks to Elise for reminding us that we are each important and valuable – more than a number on a test or a GPA.
