Velinda Gibbs of the Butterfly Collective, Sarah House of The ArtRoom and visual arts coach Heather Leavitt Martinez are seeking art submission for a contest with the theme “Transformation.”
There are cash prizes, an accompanying art exhibit and a workshop to prepare artists to talk and write about their work. Art can be dropped off from 4 to 6 p.m. March 29 at Create Art and Tea, 1015 Main Ave.
In preparation for the exhibition, Leavitt Martinez will offer a free workshop for artists planning to enter the contest. The workshop is aimed at transforming how artists talk and write about their art. The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Create Art and Tea. It is free for ages 15 to 30 and is open to other ages for a fee.
All work submitted should be ready to hang. The exhibition will be on display from March 30 to April 2.
