A Durango man died by apparent suicide Tuesday afternoon at his home in the Grandview area.

Mark John Warwick, 61, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the 800 block of County Road 233, west of Three Springs Boulevard, said La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith. He was found by his daughter, who was helping him deal with substance abuse issues, Smith said.

Warwick formerly owned Durango Lock & Key, a locksmith company in Durango.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

It was the third suicide this year in La Plata County, Smith said.
