Suing train over fire is bad for tourism

Some citizens and business owners of Durango and Silverton have filed civil suits against the Durango train company because of loss of business due to the fire.

First, the cause of the fire has not been determined.

Second, if the civil suits cause the train to go out of business, everyone in Durango and Silverton will suffer. Jobs will be lost.

One of the big draws to Durango is that train.

If the business owners think their businesses have been impacted by the fire, wait until the train is no longer running. Then all businesses will be hurt. The people filing the civil suits are cutting off their noses to spite their faces and endangering the economy of people in both towns.

I am a 73-year-old native of Denver. Every trip I have made to Durango has been for the purpose of riding that train. I recommend the Durango train to all my friends and visitors to the state. What a shame it would be to lose the train over civil lawsuits that may impact all residents of Durango and Silverton.
