Summer fun makes an early splash

As the school year nears its end, Aztecâ€™s Park Avenue Elementary fifth-graders headed to the Durango Community Recreation Center aquatic center Tuesday for a field trip. They learned about water safety and had a little fun along the way. Fifth-graders Nicholas Martinez, left, plays with his friend Caden Reinhardt in the park, which opened Memorial Day for the summer season.
