Sunday event supports Crohn's disease research

Pilates instructor Renata Clance will host a day of activities Sunday at her Bayfield studio to help support for Crohn's Disease research.

Clance's Pilates studio is in the Aspenwood Building, 357 N. Mountain View Drive. Activities will start at 10 a.m. with Clance's spiral class and 10:30 with her pregnancy class.

At 11 a.m., Selena Kennedy will give a health and wellness presentation on magnetic, far infrared, and negative ion technology.

At noon, Sonja Groskopf will lead a session on Nia with user friendly choreography for mind, body, and spirit.

Afternoon sessions are Fran Sutherlin's holiday survival guide at 1 p.m.; another Nia session with Groskopf at 2 p.m.; another session with Selena Kennedy at 3 p.m.; and Clance's kids' class at 4 p.m.

There will be free posture diagnostics all day.

Clance is holding her event to support Durango teen Tyler Blanton, who is dealing with debilitating Crohn's Disease, and his mom, Michelle Blanton-Liddle, who wants to run in a marathon/half marathon event in New Orleans in February to raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

She is seeking to raise $2,800. Both of these diseases are chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. Ulcerative colitis affects the large intestine while Crohn's can affect any part of the entire digestive track from the mouth on down.
