It seems backward that setting renewable-energy standards might ever be misconstrued as a “war on rural Colorado.” As a resident all my life, I share the same love for the beautiful state of Colorado that my parents and their parents before them do. If we, as Coloradans, do not look at the big picture and do something, our children – rural- and city-based – may never know the beauty of the same state we know and love today. I hope I am not alone in my concern for the attempts to dial back renewable energies: If there are customers of rural cooperatives who do value clean energy in Colorado, I urge they call on their legislators to stand up for clean energy – because as it stands, 300 days of free energy a year are too much to waste.
