The Bayfield School District is hosting a series of meetings on Tuesday, Jan. 16, to discuss its search for a new superintendent.
The meetings will begin with classified and certified staff at 9 a.m., district directors at 10 a.m., BHS student council members at 11:30 am, and staff again at 4 p.m.
"We would like to invite interested community members to join us at 6:30 p.m. in the Bayfield High School Library to discuss essential qualifications, traits, and characteristics of a future Superintendent," Janie Hoover, the board president, said in a press release. "This meeting will last 60 to 90 minutes to ensure that we have an opportunity for your desires to be heard. All Board of Education members will be present to help facilitate your opportunity for input."
Superintendent Troy Zabel has resigned after a cancer diagnosis, and Amy Lyons, formerly the district's finance director, was named interim superintendent for 2017-2018. She has said she also plans to apply for the permanent position.
