The organic management of our city parks has been very successful. Durango works with an excellent consultant, Chip Osborn, who is considered to be one of the nation’s best. I am very happy to see Brookside Park stay in the organic parks program.
Come spring, I recommend that everyone spend some time enjoying our organic parks. You will find them beautiful and free of chemical poisons. If you don’t know which parks these are, tell the City Council to advertise them as organic.
If you can find clover in the park’s grass, which is considered a weed, let’s ask ourselves: Is it worth the cost of spreading herbicides twice a year? Organic parks represent a higher ethic for the future. Let’s support the organic parks program in Durango. For more information behind the science, you can go to www.beyondpesticides.com
