SWCAHEC welcomes Ashleigh Manuelito

Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center welcomes Ashleigh Manuelito to its team.

Manuelito was born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, and is a member of the Navajo Nation. One of her personal goals is to shift the paradigm of health programming to allow for healing through culture.

She will work on curriculum content for the Navajo Nation Community Health Worker certification, on health education materials for a rural opioid initiative, and on a mentoring project for young people in the Four Corners interested in health careers.

Manuelito holds a bachelors degree in human biology with a concentration in neurobiology and philosophy of mind from Stanford University. She is currently a masters of public health student at the University of Arizona, studying health behavior and health promotion, and plans to pursue a medical degree with hopes of maintaining a connection to her indigenous roots.
