The Animas River, Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and San Juan National Forest made Durango one of the “12 Best Adventure Towns for an Affordable Fall Vacation” alongside destinations like Lake Tahoe, Moab and Pahoa, Hawaii, in a recent online ranking.
Durango ranked ninth on the list, by FlipKey, a TripAdvisor company.
The site estimated a weeklong stay in a two-bedroom rental in Durango would run about $1,330.
Pahoa, Hawaii, ranked first on the list because a two-bedroom rental is estimated to cost $795 for a week-long stay on the island.
Cody, Wyoming, and McCall, Idaho, took second and third place.
