Would-be visitors to Diamond J Apparel may have been confused if they tried to visit the store last week.

A story about the store at 1077 Main Ave. was published in The Durango Herald on Saturday, after it had gone out of business.

The store that sold bags, belts, shirts and other Western items was open for less than a month.

“The people there weren’t shopping like I thought they would,” store owner Darrell Julian said.

Julian, an Aztec resident, was in business for many years as a vendor at rodeos before opening Diamond J.

“We just went a different direction,” he said, after the closure.

The long-time listing agent for the property, Christina Rinderle, said she’s already had interest in the space.

“I am excited for this potential tenant,” she said.

The space was home to Pennington Camera, Velorution Cycles and Scott Bracken Gallery before the Western wear shop moved in.
