Talking gun deaths, use actual numbers

John Everest of Farmington (Letters, Herald, June 22) made the absurd claim that “since the 1966 Texas tower shooting, there have been about 700 victims from 129 shooters.” How is it possible to make such a ridiculous claim?

He may as well claim there has been one automobile accident in the U.S. in the past decade. When he referred to the time frame of the past 50 years, what he obviously must have meant was the past week.

Here is a link to the actual numbers: http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/number-of-gun-deaths.
