Bank of the San Juans announces the election of Tami Duke as the new chairman of its board of directors. Duke succeeds Tom Melchior, who has served as chairman since the bank’s founding 27 years ago and is one of its original three founders.
A Durango businesswoman and former vice president at Bank of the San Juans, Duke brings over three decades of banking and business experience to the role. Her election marks a new chapter in the bank’s continued commitment to its customers, employees and the communities it serves.
Duke’s banking career began in 1993 at her hometown institution, Bank of Jackson Hole. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming in 1998, she moved to Durango and joined Bank of the San Juans. Over a 12-year tenure, she held multiple roles, ultimately serving as senior credit officer before retiring in 2012 to help expand her family’s business, Target Rental.
