Taxpayer funds should be used neutrally

I was disappointed that the column signed by KSUT representatives Tami Graham and Wade Griffith (Herald, Apr. 27) evaded the topic of NPR being leftist. Most people in the U.S. would object to the taxpayers funding Fox News in the same way that taxpayers are forced to fund the leftist NPR. Taxpayer funds should be used neutrally.

Uri Berliner, a retired NPR employee, admitted that NPR was a leftist institute, but he defended the idea of the general public funding a partisan liberal organization. Berliner’s thesis about whether the public should be forced to fund a liberal news/entertainment outlet is the one we should be having.

Simply eluding the discussion about the partisan nature and history of NPR only leaves me with the feeling that someone of questionable ethics is trying to slip one past us.
