Voting is something very important that fewer and fewer people are doing. Only about half of the people eligible to vote are actually registered. And there are also not enough young people voting – only 58 percent of people 18 to 24, compared to 73 percent of people 45 to 54. One reason younger people are not voting is because they don’t know how. It is important to vote because democracy works best when it is supported by the people.
If people are not voting, not everyone is being represented. This is why it is important for people to be educated about voting and the voting process, and for them to actually exercise the right and power to vote. To make sure people are in the loop, it is important to make a big deal about voting and to make information about voting accessible. Schools should also maybe be teaching seniors how the voting process works so that they at least know where to start.
