Children's programming returns to the Pine River Library after a break for the summer holiday. Children's Services Manager Kate Brunner and Youth Services Manager Becky Van Den Berg have planned a new lineup of fun programs. Programs, with the exception of Gamer's Club, will start the week of Aug. 27.
This year the Little Readers Storytime will run every Wednesday with stories, songs, activities, and crafts from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This program is for infants through preschoolers and their parents or caregivers, but all ages and abilities are always welcome!
After School Awesome is also back this year, with stories, history, art, science, outdoor and life skills activities for kindergarten through fifth graders from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays.
On Fridays, the library will host "Groove and Grow" with songs, stories, and activities for babies and toddlers from 10 to 11 a.m. This program will be followed by "Caregiver Café," an open playtime in the Library Imagination Room for all ages where parents, grandparents, and caregivers are invited to visit and enjoy refreshments from 11 a.m. to noon.
There will be two new programs for kids starting this fall. On Thursdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m., the Little Artists program will focus on process art for toddlers and preschoolers, exploring a variety of materials and techniques. For older kids in fourth through sixth grades, the Page Turners Book Club will run every Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Participants will have the chance to design their very own book club and keep the books they'll read.
Gamer Club, a popular program for older kids, is returning Monday, Sept.10. Library laptops are set up in the Community Room for kids to play Pokémon Go, Minecraft, Roblox, or other engineering games. X-boxes, PlayStations, and old fashioned board games are available for participants. Library staff is on hand to answer questions. The program is open to all school-aged children, up to fifth-graders, every Monday from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
For kids in middle and high school, the library offers daily weekday programs for teens from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. All programs feature games, activities, and snacks. Every Friday is "Magic the Gathering Day" where participants can enjoy epic magic battles.
On holidays, or other days where the library is closed, programs will be cancelled. For a complete and updated list of children's and teen programming, visit the library's website at www.prlibrary.org.
