Give us a break!
The La Plata County Building Department will be submitting new building codes for adoption to the Board of County Commissioners this week.
By their own accounting, the new codes – if adopted – will increase the cost of building the average single-family home in the county by $12,000.
I have lived in this county for over 45 years, and am distressed to see that more and more families are unable to build or own a home here.
If you care about affordable and attainable housing, let the commissioners know and ask them not to adopt the new codes.
Let’s give our children, grandchildren, and our friends and neighbors who work hard to stay here a break!
