Thank you, Dugan family

Durango used to have so much downtown charm. Now, we see more and more modern buildings with little regard to our rural, Western heritage. It is heartwarming to see a local (long time) family step up and preserve a part of what is left. Thank you, Dugan family, for restoring the Olde Tymers restaurant space, and for applying for a historic preservation designation.

We “old timers” don’t want another fancy modern building, or, please city planners, no more condos and hotels downtown. If we don’t preserve what Durango charm is left, there will be no reason for anyone to go downtown. We have all seen what happens to small towns when the downtown portion is “modernized” – it dies. If you want big stores, live somewhere else. Let’s keep our small town feel and follow the Dugans’ lead!
