Dear La Plata County residents: It gives me great pleasure to announce the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County reopened for in-person after-school programs Jan. 25.
Throughout the pandemic, the club has been providing interactive virtual activities designed to keep La Plata County youths connected (lessoning feelings of isolation) and engaged in programs that inspire creativity, support academic success and encourage physical activity.
The club’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We are so proud we have been able to honor our mission while following safer-at-home guidelines.
The club has been positioned to meet the needs of kids and their families thanks in large part to the generosity of our community, individuals, business and civic leaders who continue to invest in the great futures of our club members. A huge thank you to all the staff who have had to think outside the box, who have spent hundreds of hours in the virtual world making a positive impact in the lives of La Plata County youths.
On behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County Board of Directors, we invite the community to join us in welcoming our club members back. Hey kids, the doors to your club are open!
Tiffany Lee, Board of Directors chair, La Plata County Clerk and Recorder
