The Durango Friends of the Arts would like to thank Ann Butler and Judith Reynolds for kicking off our first membership meeting of the year with their presentation “Going out in Style.”
Their fascinating program explored the history and philosophy of death in art obituaries and obit cartoons. Talking about death in America is often considered too morbid for polite conversation; however Ann and Judith managed to deal with the topic in a lighthearted and fascinating way. It was one of our best attended meetings in recent memory, most likely because of the reputation our two presenters.
Thanks also to Sandy Bruce and Mary Kay Lambert for the refreshments and to the Durango Community Recreation Center for the use of one its rooms.
