Thank you from Leadership La Plata

What a great day of learning about education in La Plata County! On behalf of Leadership La Plata, we want to thank those who contributed to the success of the education class held on Feb. 8 at the Durango High School Library. The library allowed us to provide a real life educational atmosphere and we are so grateful for the opportunity. Our goal and objective for the class was exploring a sustainable and thriving culture within La Plata County educational systems.

Dale Garland, our moderator, was fantastic! His energy and passion for education is contagious. He kept our class on schedule and did a wonderful job keeping the class focused on our goal and objective.

Thank you, Dale!

We would also like to thank the following individuals: Mike Freeburn for the information he provided about Southwest Colorado eSchool; Joanne Hibbard and Hallie Whitney for their presentation on Healthy School Climate and Culture; Andy Burns, Chiara Cannella, Christopher DeKay, Barbara Frontella, Jessica McCallum and Alyssa Robertson for participating in our panel discussion; Valeria Skarbek, the DHS librarian who took such great care of us all day.

A huge round of applause to our amazing DHS Troupe 1096 students Holly Harris, Sophie Hughes, Colson Parker, Lewis Patton, Haley Szczech and Risa Whitehead! The students took the class on a tour of the DHS Theatre and shared their experiences. What an inspiring group of young adults.
