The concept of having our community participate and see what goes into restoration and the makings of a healthy forest is vital to our community, and we credit Mary Monroe Brown of Trails2000, Brent Schoradt of San Juan Mountains Association and Stephanie Weber of Durango Nature Studies for their leadership in developing the vision and bringing the four organizations together for the coordinated effort. We would like to formally thank our partner organizations for including us in this effort.
The event featured stewardship and interpretive hikes, trail restoration and weeding and seeding efforts. It was inspiring to see Mary lead the Trails2000 effort on mountain bikes to reach trails that impacted by 416 runoff, while kids made seed balls to revegetate the forest, and hikes were being led in congruence.
