My brother, Reggie Hohenberg, recently died in a car accident while driving home in the beautiful San Juan Mountains. He found peace in the beauty that surrounded him. My family and I are devastated by the loss, but we will continue to push through, just as Reggie would have. Reggie was an exceptional son, brother and uncle to his nieces and nephews. He brought so much joy to those around him. He will be greatly missed.
We want to express our deepest thank you to those reaching out with their thoughts and prayers. They have been felt.
My family and I would also like to send a special thank you to some amazing members of the community. To those who stopped and were the first at the scene: We cannot thank you enough for all you did. It consoled us in an inconsolable time to hear that people cared so much that they were at his side, comforting and praying during his last moments. I’m sure the experience was extremely difficult. You and your families are in our prayers. Please know how grateful we are for your willingness to help a stranger.
To the members of the paramedic team who tended to Reggie that evening: We have heard stories of the amazing effort and care you provided even when nothing more could be done. Witnesses told us they would want to be treated the same way if in that situation. Thank you for going above and beyond. It is comforting to know he was in good, caring hands.
To Colorado State Patrol: Thank you. You handled this difficult situation with professionalism and sincere sadness. You have been extremely helpful in our time of need. You put yourselves in harm’s way for the safety of others, which is greatly admired and appreciated by the Hohenberg family. Thank you for all that you do.
